Guilt..An Incredible Motivator

I have 3 children, and I suffer pangs of guilt all through the day.

Don't get me wrong, I do (almost) everything right, but I know I could do MORE. I should be room mom EVERY year. Instead of driving, I should walk my kids to school. In exchange for dragging them endlessly to the grocery store, I get them that treat they want. Even if I am exhausted after a long day, I shouldn't rush bedtime. I should go to school and eat lunch with my daughter...she says she eats alone and has no friends. Gut-wrenching stuff -- the kind of stuff we all think about, stuff that makes us feel we are not doing enough.

That is why I started making KidsLunchBoxCards -- they've helped me get rid of some of my guilt. Somehow I touch my kids through these cards, and that helps me get through the day -- knowing I've made them smile. They've worked so well for my children that I have decided I have to share them with other mothers.

I've seen so many kids AND moms in tears at drop-off time, and I know too many moms who fret their way through the school day. I know that these lunch box cards bring me together with my kids even when I'm not with them. I hope they will do the same for you.

Great to get in touch with you. I am a grandfather of 6 young grandchildren and am constantly feeling guilty that I do not spend eough time with them. Bought some of your KidsFunCards and sent them to the grandchildren who were all in camp. They all became big "hits" with all the camping friends and now I am a HERO! Thanks for giving me a cool way to tell them I love them very much. Grandpa Domenic

I also sent them to camp. Easy way to stay in touch daily without coming up with a whole letter's worth of things to say. (Honestly its kind of boring at home when the kid's at camp!) And they can work for an older kid as a camp postcard, not too "babyish" to have Mom pack notes in your lunch.

Love 'em, can't wait til the next series.

Grandpa Domenic,

I am trilled to hear the cards made your grandchildren happy! I remember being at sleep-away camp. I was homesick, so I LIVED for mail, and when it didn't come, it broke my heart.

My neighbors daughter is at camp and her mom asked everyone to send mail- she has seen all of my lunchcards, so I have had to work hard to figure out what to send her- it is not easy! I hope I made it easy for you to drop one in the mail everyday.

By the way- where did you buy them?

Life gets so busy that I sometimes push aside the little things that really tell my daughters I am there for them and they matter. Sure, I spend hours going to the grocery store, making dinner, doing dishes, laundry, volunteering at their school, etc. Notes in their lunch is one of those small things that let them know they are special and I am thinking of them. Your cards not only make packing lunches a little more enjoyable (and easier) for me, but the kids really enjoy the attention they get from the other kids who are excited to see what the note says. My eight year old especially love the scratch off ones! Thanks!

D.kitay5,

I have heard the kids are crazy for the scratch-off lunchcards- I will have lots more in my next line.

Glad to hear the cards help- I just dropped my kids off for their first day of camp and it felt bad- I am trying to make the summer fun for them and they looked at me like I was leaving them at an orphanage, never to return. "Guilt anyone?"

I was so happy to hear from a friend about your lunch cards. As a working mother of two (ages 6 and 11) I have spent many years suffering from the guilt and separation anxiety (mine and theirs) that comes from the daily drop off at school and camp. I often write little notes for my kids -- either for the breakfast table or their lunch. What a great way to bring a smile to their faces during the day. These lunch cards will help me let my kids know that I am thinking of them...even when we are not together.

Rose,
What's up girl? I picked up some of your cards for my nephew. They are fantastic. With Gina's artwork and your graphics, you two have a winner. The website is adorable. I'm guessing you are responsible for that :)
I wish you BOTH much success and I look forward to the next batch of cards.

I love these lunch box cards. For years I've enclosed a personal note in my children's lunch and snacks. It is such a wonderful way to say you're thinking of them when you can't be together physically.

My children started back to school yesterday. Now that there are three of them attending (ages 5, 6 and 12), it is difficult with the time restraints (packing lunches/snacks, breakfast, hairstyling, backpack packing, etc.) for me to write five (lunch time and snack time) letters a day. These cards help me connect with my children when I can't be there. I just add a short personal note and voila. My 12 year old and his buddies really got a kick out of it when my son opened his lunch yesterday. It was a great icebreaker for making conversation with new students at the lunch table.

Great product for the concerned and busy Mom.

Again, my thanks. Looking forward to the new series.

I am reminded of being in grade school in the 70's and my Mom would write a note, once in a while, on the paper napkin in my lunch. I always loved that. These cards are fantastic. I hope to blog about them soon. Congrats on a fantastic idea!

Thank you Teri! My mom always drew on the napkin too! It was a girl in a 50's outfit, I loved when she took the time- predictable, but it made me feel loved. Where do you blog? I will come take a peek...
